Program Overview
The Certified Canine Rehabilitation Veterinarian (CCRV) is a course that trains and certifies licensed veterinarians in veterinary rehabilitation for canines.
The course consists of an online session and an on-site session. The online session contains 4 modules with lectures and case demos that students can stream at their convenience. The on-site session contains 2 modules hosted at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. These in-person modules provide students with program material through both online and on-site lectures, labs, and demos.
Program Objectives
The course is intended for veterinarians or veterinary students who have no or limited background in rehabilitation. During the program, you will learn how to:
- Perform rehabilitation, neurological and orthopedic examinations
- Accurately analyze and quantify gait and posture abnormalities
- Select and apply rehabilitative agents and modalities to treat patients, including laser, thermotherapy, cryotherapy, therapeutic ultrasounds, Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF), Electrotherapy (TENS and NMES)
- Utilize manual therapy techniques, land exercise and treadmill, and hydrotherapy for patients
- Integrate fundamentals of rehabilitation and sports medicine into an integrated care plan
- Manage and prevent injuries and pain associated with rehabilitation, performance, and sports medicine
- Develop an appropriate rehabilitation program for a variety of disorders, including orthopedic, neurologic, medical, hospice, and palliative cases
- Develop an appropriate conditioning program in rehabilitation and sports medicine
- Formulate comprehensive clinical intervention plans that incorporate rehabilitation to help patients recover from illness and/or injury, and to help patients to live life to the fullest with minimal pain and discomfort
