Dr. Silvia Drekic is a Louisiana native who earned undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of New Orleans and a Master’s in Wildlife Conservation from LSU. She completed her DVM at UC Davis in 2001 and began her clinical career in Orange County as a mobile equine veterinarian, eventually owning a multi-doctor equine practice. In 2010, she launched a mixed animal mobile practice, blending traditional and alternative medicine to care for horses, llamas, alpacas, goats, cats, and dogs.

In 2018, Dr. Drekic transitioned into academia as Medical Director and Teaching Director for the Veterinary Technology Program at Stanbridge University. She later returned to private practice as Managing Doctor at Laguna Beach Animal Hospital and now leads a seven-doctor team at Overland Veterinary Clinic in Los Angeles.

Certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and Food Animal Therapy from the Chi Institute, Dr. Drekic has special interests in senior wellness, anesthesia, nutrition, dentistry, and internal medicine. She has volunteered internationally, offering care to underserved communities and their animals. She is also a current member of the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).

Now back at UC Davis for the Don Low Fellowship, Dr. Drekic is thrilled to collaborate with students and faculty, bringing her diverse experience to enrich both her staff and fellow clinicians.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and pets, as well as hiking, cooking, reading suspense novels, and traveling.

Ethan McEnroe

Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care
Atascadero, CA

Dr. Ethan McEnroe is a first-generation American from Bakersfield, California, whose passion for veterinary medicine was inspired by his father, a dairy veterinarian, and childhood evenings spent listening to James Herriot stories. He earned his Animal Science degree from Chico State and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis.

After starting his career at a 24/7 emergency hospital—eventually serving as medical director—Dr. Ethan founded PetMed Urgent Care in 2023 to meet the growing demand for timely veterinary services. He later partnered with Dr. Joe Raleigh to open Cerro Alto Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital, the Central Coast’s first specialty referral center.

An active leader in the profession, Dr. Ethan chairs the CVMA Membership Committee and serves as its first Early Career Veterinarian Board Member. He advocates for strong practice culture, support staff advancement, and the preservation of privately owned practices.

In 2025, he was awarded the prestigious Don Low-CVMA Practitioner Fellowship and will complete advanced training in emergency and critical care at UC Davis.

Dr. Ethan lives in Atascadero with his wife, daughter, and a small menagerie of pets. He enjoys horseback riding, backpacking, dog shows, golf, and working on home projects around their property.

Laura Such

Laura Such

Ophthalmology
Atascadero, CA

Dr. Laura Such was raised in Southern California’s High Desert and earned her Bachelor's in Animal Science in North Carolina before completing her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University in 2017. She has a special interest in feline and internal medicine, ophthalmology, and completed advanced anesthesia training in 2025 through the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC). Dr. Such is also a current member of the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).

Dr. Such values compassionate, long-term relationships with clients and enjoys strengthening the human-animal bond. Outside of work, she stays active at the gym, enjoys walks with her dog Willow, and spends relaxing evenings watching movies with her husband Jeff and their cat, Tweetie.
