Dr. Anna DeVincenzi is a Bay Area native who received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis in 2005. After completing a one year rotating internship, she primarily worked in general practice for over 10 years. Recently transitioning into the relief sector, Dr. DeVincenzi has been helping to fill the large gaps in both general practice and emergency medicine. She is very excited to hone her ER skills with the Emergency and Critical Care service at UC Davis!

Dr. Amanda Fiser graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine before going into general practice in Houston, Texas. She practiced in Houston for eight years before moving to the Bay Area in California. She has spent the last four years exclusively in emergency medicine; first as an overnight doctor and has recently taken on the role as ER department head at MedVet Silicon Valley. She enjoys mentoring new emergency doctors and technicians. Her areas of interest include toxicology and wound care.

Dr. Serena Gannon has always loved to care for animals and knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian from an early age. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2012, and has worked as a general practitioner and an emergency veterinarian in the UK and Australia. She moved to California in 2017, where she continued in general practice. Dr. Gannon has a keen interest in small animal soft tissue surgery, and particularly enjoys treating surgical oncology cases. She is extremely excited for the opportunity to be working with the surgical team at UC Davis, and is looking forward to seeing all of the latest surgical developments, procedures and techniques first hand. She currently lives in the Bay area with her husband, daughter and her much-loved dog Millie. On the weekends they love to explore the area and go hiking.

Dr. Shann Ikezawa attended UC Davis and graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Since then she has worked in general practice, urgent care medicine, and surgery in the Bay Area. She has a special interest in, and love for, brachycephalic breeds and their unique medical needs, as well as soft tissue surgery. Dr. Ikezawa resides in the Bay Area with her husband and her rescue dog, Otis. Originally from Hawaii, many of her hobbies center around her culture, including Polynesian dancing and cooking her favorite Hawaiian foods! She also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, snorkeling, and volunteering her time locally and internationally.

Dr. Katherine Mills is a 2007 graduate of UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She has spent her career working in both private non-profit shelters and municipal shelters. Currently, Dr. Mills serves as the Chief of Shelter Medicine at Contra Costa County Animal Services in Martinez, CA. Dr. Mills is excited to continue her Don Low Fellowship in Behavior. Many animals are relinquished to shelters due to behavior issues or concerns. Dr. Mills knows that having increased knowledge regarding the diagnosis and treatment of behavior conditions will benefit her and the animals who enter the shelter system.

Joanne Sohn

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, CA

Dr. Joanne Sohn graduated from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine and received her Masters in Public Health from UC Davis.  She is an Associate Professor and director of the veterinary technician program at Cal Poly Pomona since 2014. She has also worked for over twenty years as a clinical veterinarian, predominantly in 24-hour emergency practices. Dr. Sohn has developed multiple hands-on learning opportunities for students and is an enthusiastic proponent for experiential leaning. Her passion for international travel has resulted in organizing trips with students to Thailand and South Africa. As a result of her numerous grants, the on-campus veterinary teaching lab is equipped with some of the most up-to-date equipment and technology. She also conducts clinical research with undergraduate students. Dr. Sohn received the College of Agriculture Teacher of the Year award in 2016, the Center for Community Engagement Award in 2018, the Provost Award for Teaching in 2021, and is currently a Fulbright Specialist.
