Program

We hope you will join us in person, on-site at the UCD Veterinary Campus for our 2022 Fall Symposium. For those of you that can’t join us in person, we do offer an interactive webinar option.

This year we have three tracks available for veterinarians and veterinary professionals. We have four speakers providing their specialty highlights for our “Year in Review” sessions. Each speaker will discuss the clinical relevance of select manuscripts from the past year and how this impacts our daily practice.

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Danika Bannasch, Professor in the Department of Population Health and Reproduction. Dr. Bannasch focuses her research on the identification of molecular causes for inherited diseases in dogs and horses. Her laboratory develops diagnostic tests to aid animal breeders, identification of novel genes and pathways as candidates for human disease; and provides an understanding of basic molecular mechanisms of diseases. Her keynote address, “Short Legs and Jumping Genes- What Does It All Mean?” will present an overview of her latest research and how the study of genetics impacts health and disease.

Our Featured Faculty Speaker for this Symposium is Dr. Stephen White, Professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Epidemiology. Dr. White is a world renowned veterinary dermatologist and his area of interests include food allergy, cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease, rabbit/rodent dermatology, and equine dermatology. Dr. White has published over 125 scientific papers in refereed journal and will provide lecture, discussion, and ample time to answer your question in his session, “The Practical Approach to the Pruritic Dog.”

The UCD CCPE is honored to continue our collaboration with the NCAEP and offer several equine lectures from Dr. Nicola Pusterla, professor of Equine Internal Medicine and Dentistry at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Pusteria's research focuses

on selected aspects of equine infectious diseases with an emphasis on epidemiology, clinical disease understanding, diagnostics, prevention, and treatment.

We have discounted onsite and webinar prices for our veterinary technicians and a track dedicated to provide CE credit tailored for the RVT and Veterinary Assistants. Anesthesia Ventilators will be the theme of the Technician Track. It will include two lectures and one onsite hands on laboratory. During the lab you'll learn from the best when it comes to using, maintaining and trouble shooting multiple brands of anesthesia ventilators and be able to discuss your challenges and concerns in a small group setting. This laboratory is FREE of charge. Space is limited for the laboratory, so register early.

The Full Symposium registration price (Veterinarian, RVT, or Hospital Staff) provides access to all of the tracks during the Fall Symposium.

The Equine Only Track registration price includes the four equine sessions plus the keynote lecture (up to 5 hours CE Credit). Note: The Equine track is also included if the full symposium is purchased.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks provided for all registrants so join us for some wonderful continuing education and have some fun reconnecting with friends and colleagues.

Cancellation Policy
A refund will be made, less a $30.00 processing fee, if the cancellation request is received two weeks before the program start date, otherwise, a refund will be made, less a $75.00 processing fee.
