Join us for a FREE 2-hour virtual Mini Bootcamp - Regional Ultrasound in Action: Emergency Diagnostics & Regional Anesthesia for Small Animals on December 10, 2025, sponsored by Samsung.

Hosted by the Center for Continuing Professional Education, this interactive mini bootcamp will explore how point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is transforming small animal emergency and surgical care. Participants will gain knowledge of how POCUS provides real-time diagnostic insights to support rapid, informed decision-making at the cageside. Core topics include the detection of pericardial, pleural, and abdominal effusion; evaluation of the urinary system; and identification of gastrointestinal abnormalities. A systematic, goal-directed approach will be emphasized to optimize efficiency in high-pressure clinical scenarios.

The session will also cover the expanding role of ultrasound in locoregional anesthesia. Attendees will learn the essentials of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks for pain management, including relevant sonographic anatomy (e.g., brachial plexus, femoral/sciatic, intercostal, and dental blocks), equipment selection, image acquisition, needle guidance, and safety considerations.

Through clinical case examples, participants will leave with a practical framework for incorporating both diagnostic and anesthetic ultrasound techniques into their emergency and surgical workflows—enhancing diagnostic accuracy, advancing pain management, and improving patient outcomes.
