Hosted by the Center for Continuing Professional Education, this interactive mini bootcamp will explore common orthopedic and neurological disorders of older cats and dogs, with a focus on patient evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Emphasis will be placed on differentiating neurological from orthopedic gait and presentation, and a curated case case-based discussion will follow. By attending this webinar session, participants will:
- Recognize and assess common causes of mobility issues in senior pets, including overlapping orthopedic and neurologic signs, using practical in-clinic techniques.
- Determine when geriatric mobility cases can be managed in general practice and when referral is appropriate.
- Explore treatment options for geriatric patients, including pain management, environmental modifications, and rehabilitation strategies.

Dr. Vishal Murthy is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery in the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences at the University of California, Davis. His research interests and areas of expertise include spinal cord injury, biomarkers of neurological disease, and education in neurosurgery and neurology.
- Ming Lu DVM, MVM, MS, MS, DACVS (Small Animal)
Dr. Ming Lu is a board-certified surgical fellow with the Advanced Veterinary Surgery Service at the University of California, Davis. He works alongside four board-certified faculty surgeons, who together are among the nation’s leading experts in joint replacement surgery and other orthopedic advancements.
