Coccidiosis remains a significant health concern for herds raising youngstock and can also impact older animals under certain conditions. With a complex life cycle, diverse species, and the ability to persist in a variety of environments, Eimeria can be challenging to diagnose, treat, and control. Effective management requires a comprehensive understanding of parasite biology, accurate diagnostics, targeted treatment strategies, and integrated prevention plans. This webinar will provide practical guidance for developing sustainable coccidiosis management programs while addressing the growing concern of anticoccidial resistance.

  • Heather Fritz

    Dr. Heather Fritz is a clinical associate professor and section head for the bacteriology/parasitology diagnostic service at the UC Davis California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory She received her bachelor’s degrees in Veterinary Science and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from the University of Arizona in 1999 and her DVM from UC Davis in 2005. After veterinary school she practiced in small animal general and emergency private practice before returning to UC Davis to complete a PhD in Comparative Pathology with a focus in molecular protozoal parasitology. Dr. Fritz is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Microbiology.

  • Grace VanHoy

    Dr. Grace VanHoy is a clinical assistant professor in the Livestock Medicine and Surgery Service at UC Davis. She received her bachelor's degree in animal science from Cal Poly, SLO, then her DVM from Ohio State University. Following veterinary school, she completed an internship and residency in farm animal medicine and surgery while completing a master’s degree with an emphasis in veterinary parasitology. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
