Join us for an enriching 3-day conference focused on veterinary dentistry. Hosted at the picturesque Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, this year's conference brings together veterinarians, technicians, and dental professionals to explore cutting-edge topics in dentistry and oromaxillofacial surgery. Our conference is offering an opportunity to get up 10 CE hours in veterinary dentistry and enjoy an incredible destination vacation at the same time! There will be lectures each morning and evening; then you can enjoy the rest of your day in beautiful Lake Tahoe. Outdoor activities are not included in the registration price. We urge participants to plan ahead and make necessary arrangements when exploring Lake Tahoe and its winter activities, as additional costs may be applicable.
CONFERENCE EXPERIENCE:
- Quality Continuing Education: Attendees will benefit from high-quality continuing education sessions led by experts in the field.
- Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Bring your family and furry friends! In addition to the educational sessions, participants will have plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful Lake Tahoe area. Activities include playing in the snow, skiing or snowboarding the Sierra Nevada mountains, hiking, and more.
- Food and Refreshments: Light breakfast, coffee, and tea are served every morning, and appetizers and beverages are provided each evening before lectures.
- Climate & Attire: The Sierra Nevada weather conditions varies throughout the day and can result in drastic differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures. Casual and informal attire is appropriate for daytime and evening sessions.
SPEAKERS
- Boaz Arzi DVM, DAVDC, DEVDC, FF-AVDC (OMFS)
Dr. Boaz Arzi is a Professor and Chief of Dentistry and Oral surgery at the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Arzi completed the residency-training program in Dentistry and Oral surgery at the School of Veterinary Medicine, UC Davis and two years fellowship in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis. He is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) and the European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC). Dr. Arzi is also a Founding Fellow of the AVDC in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Arzi’s clinical and research focus is on oral maxillofacial reconstruction and regenerative solutions in dogs and cats. His lab also focus TMJ disorders and treatments across species and he is an affiliate member of the American Society of TMJ Surgeons. Dr. Arzi is the Director of the Veterinary Institute for Regenerative Cures (VIRC) at UC Davis. Ultimately, Dr. Arzi’s work is translational with the aim of One Health treatment modalities for both human and animal health.
- Stephanie Goldschmidt BVM&S, DAVDC, DEVDC, F-OMFS
Dr. Stephanie Goldschmidt is an assistant tenure track professor in Dentistry and Oral surgery at the University of California- Davis. She completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in Animal Science. She received her veterinary degree from the Royal School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and then went on to complete a rotating internship at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island. Following residency training she spent five years as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Minnesota. She is currently undergoing fellowship training in both oral medicine and oromaxillofacial surgery. Her subspecialty clinical and research area is oral oncology, specifically she is focused on improving treatment paradigms with the use of theragnostic agents. Her current projects include using flourescence imaging to evaluate intraoperative surgical margins and evaluating EGFR expression in canine oral tumors.
- Maria Soltero-Rivera DVM, DAVDC, DEVDC
Dr. Maria Soltero-Rivera is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Dentistry and Oral surgery at the Department of Surgical and Radiological Sciences, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Soltero-Rivera completed her residency-training program in dentistry and oral surgery at PennVet and has worked as a visiting scientist at Dr. Joe De Risi’s lab, focusing on illuminating feline gingivostomatitis causative agents using metatranscriptomic next-generation RNA sequencing technology. She is a Diplomate of the American and European Veterinary Dental Colleges.
Dr. Soltero-Rivera’s clinical and research focus is onoral medicine. Dr. Soltero-Rivera completed the Thomas P. Sollecito One Health Fellowship in Oral Medicine in the Summer of 2024 and is currently pursuing a Masters in Advanced Studies (M.A.S.) in Clinical Research. Her lab investigates and uses innovative technologies, including next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence, to study the oral mucosa, the interkingdom interactions in the oral cavity, and the host responses to this biomass. This is done with the intent of advancing diagnostic and treatment methods used in dentistry and oral surgery, harnessing companion animal disease models to provide individualized and more precise oral care.- Milinda Lommer DVM, DAVDC
Dr. Milinda Lommer earned her D.V.M. with Phi Zeta honors from U.C. Davis’ School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After a 1-year private-practice internship, Milinda returned to U.C. Davis, where she became the school’s first resident in Dentistry & Oral Surgery, completing the program in 1999. She received the 1999 Peter Emily Outstanding Candidate Award from the American Veterinary Dental College® (AVDC®), and became a Diplomate of the AVDC® in 2000, earning the title Board Certified Veterinary DentistTM.
In addition to operating her specialty practice, Aggie Animal Dental Center, in Mill Valley, CA, Dr. Lommer serves as a volunteer Associate Clinical Professor at U.C. Davis, assisting the residents in the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service and participating in clinical research projects. Other volunteer work includes serving as Chair of the Resident Education Committee for the AVDC®, Associate Editor for Frontiers in Veterinary Science (Veterinary Dentistry and Oromaxillofacial Surgery section), and performing dental procedures at the Oakland and San Francisco Zoos.- Kimi Kan-Rohrer RDHAP, BSDH
Kimi Kan-Rohrer RDHAP, BSDH, is a licensed dental hygienist in human dentistry and graduated from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 2006. She has held clinical adjunct faculty positions at the University of the Pacific and Sacramento City College. Kimi is a current member of the California Dental Hygienists' Association and a past board member/current member of the Sacramento Valley Dental Hygienists' Association. In 2014, she joined the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service of the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and shares her dental knowledge with faculty, residents, and staff. Additionally, she teaches veterinary students diagnostic and preventative techniques through clinical rotations, lectures, and labs. Kimi earned the 2023 VMTH Rachel Smith Employee of the Year award. Being involved in human and veterinary dentistry has been extremely rewarding, and she hopes to continue increasing oral health awareness in both populations.
- Janny Evenhuis DVM, DAVDC
Dr. Janny Evenhuis is the current Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Fellow at the University of California – Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Evenhuis attended UC Davis for veterinary school. After a general rotating internship at Colorado State University, she returned to UC Davis for her Dentistry and Oral Surgery residency and stayed on for fellowship. Dr. Evenhuis is passionate about orofacial trauma, surgical oncology, and providing high-quality and accessible education for veterinary students and professionals.

Cancellation Policy
A registration refund will be made, less a $150.00 processing fee, if the cancellation request is received two weeks before the program start date, otherwise, a refund will be made, less a $300.00 processing fee. Registration is non-refundable after the program start date. All requests must be made in writing. Submit cancellation request via email to svmcontinuinged@ucdavis.edu.
